Evangelism

On this page I am going to be keeping a record of how our evangelism is going. We started boardwalk and beach outreach yesterday and today and it has gone well. There are 7 different people that have already accepted Christ as their savior! Others have had some deeper conversations and left some of our evangelism tools with people so that they may look at later and possible come to Christ a little bit down the road. The whole experience has been great, my nerves have really subsided and I am enjoying going out and talking to people.

How the evangelism of my partner and I went today was pretty good. We went and talked to this group of two guys and one girl. How we approach people to engage in spiritual conversations goes a little like this: we have a set of 5 questions to get some spiritual background information and this leads to sharing our Knowing God Personally (KGP) booklet. Anyway, we went up to these three twenty-somethings and asked if they would help us with our survey and they said yes. The girl wasn't all that interested but chimed in from time to time. The guy that I was talking to didn't really have a spiritual background and wasn't interested in starting a spiritual life but hey, that's a planted seed. The guy my partner was talking to however, was actually trying to figure out the supernatural and had explored some stuff with spirits and other things but didn't have anything solid. He didn't want to go through the KGP with us but we gave him one to look over. The girl wasn't interested in learning about God either but hopefully the other guy (Dave) will look through the KGP and want to start that relationship!

So today at work, God opened up an opportunity for a friend and myself to share our faith. While at work, it began to rain and since not many people like to be on the boardwalk when it rains, business started to slow down. This being the case, we were able to talk with and get to know a hostess named Jill. Jill asked us why we were here and so the other guy from Cru that I was working with, Jonathan, told her everything that we were doing including how we are using surveys to share our faith. This raised some curiosity in her so she asked us about the survey. Jonathan and I then proceeded to go through the survey with her. After we finished, we learned that she grew up Catholic but didn't really like it because it was very works based. Well, Jonathan was let out early so I was left there alone with Jill. I was able to give her a KGP and invite her to one of our weekly meetings so hopefully she will look through the booklet and show up on Monday. Prayers for Jill would be greatly appreciated!

This was our first Saturday outreach and it went pretty well. Among all of the students, we had about 10 decisions for Christ! Praise God for that! Personally, I did not witness any decisions but I was able to share the KGP with three people. Me and my partner went and talked to about 13 people and were able to share the KGP with three of them. The people we did share with seemed a bit interested but did not want to make any decisions right then and there. So, if you could be praying for them too that would be awesome! God is doing great things this summer and it's amazing to see!

One of our theme weeks was titled "Killing thg Giants" and the focus was on evangelism. We collectively set a goal of 5,112 people to have conversations with that week. Yeah, that is a crazy number, I'm well aware but it was not impossible with God! We were about 94 people short the ending Saturday night and so we had a last minute push in which we flew by our goal and had over 5,300 spiritual conversations! Let me define a spiritual conversation real quick, it is considered a spiritual conversation if we talk about spiritual things or go through our survey, not necessarily a gospel presentation or decision for Christ. However, we did have 149 decisions for Christ throughout that week, praise the Lord! It was such a stretching week for all of us and we learned a lot.

My work site is continuing to be a great place for ministry! My Cru coworkers and I were able to have many conversations with our managers, servers, and hostess! We have had many spiritual conversations and I was even able to share the KGP with another hostess! She seemed sort of interested and she seemed to get it but has not made a decision for Christ quite yet. Pray for Allison and continue to pray for Jill as they both seem very spiritually thirsty. Also continue to pray for more opportunities to share and get to know our coworkers at Clancy's, the harvest is plentiful and we need to really spread Christ's love in that place.

Exciting news! This past week I was able to see two people come to Christ! I went out sharing on July 5th after our weekly meeting with a friend of mine from Arizona named Kevin. We used these things called perspective cards and then went straight to the Gospel afterwards. Their names were Eric and Justin. Justin seemed to be really tracking with us through the whole KGP but Eric was stuck on trying to please God. This was understandable though because they came from a Catholic background and that's what they have been taught. By the end though, they both wanted to pray to receive Christ! Praise the Lord! I was and am so excited to have had the privilege to see this. Please keep these two young men in your prayers that they will continue to see the gravity of their decision and really have a heart for the Lord.

We have been able to continue having spiritual conversations with people at work! The people there are very willing and open to conversations so praise the Lord for that. Please continue to pray for Clancy's employees, both Cru and non-Cru people. There is one person there who is a believer but doesn't have a solid Christian community and she is basically crying out to us for that. She has been to one of our meetings and really enjoys hanging out with us so pray for her that she will be able to find a good Christian community here in Ocean City!
